Why Join A Group? What’s the big deal with Groups? You are in the Worship Service every week. Sometimes even you help greet at the door or pass out bulletins. So why do you need to join a Group? Here are 5 reasons Group are important to each of our spiritual growth.

1. You will better understand the Bible.

In all of our Groups, the Bible is our textbook. Here at The MET, we consider it to be God’s love letter to us and, in our Groups, we want to study what He has to say to us. In this setting, you can ask questions, discuss the scriptures and hear others insight on the truth we are all trying to grasp. Application of scriptural truth into your everyday life is best understood and explained in the context of Group experience.

2. You will begin to really feel like a part of God’s family.

Most who have been involved in a Group would say that a great benefit is the relationships formed and the friendships that are developed. You will begin to see that we are all struggling towards the same goals in life and, knowing others who are in the same boat helps us all face the world. God doesn’t want us to go it alone in the Christian life. Groups offer a chance to know others who will be an excellent support in times of crisis, change and stress.

3. Prayer will become more meaningful to you.

It is hard to pray in front of others, especially in a big church. Groups offer an opportunity to participate in prayer by having a conversation with God together. No one is pressured into prayer, but as you become more comfortable, you may want to join in. In praying together with others, we are drawn closer to one another and closer to God as we seek what He has for our lives.

4. Groups deepen your understanding of worship.

Worship doesn’t only happen in a large Group on Sunday morning with a sermon, a choir and an offering plate. Worship happens any time we are focused on God. Groups offer a different side of worship involving prayer and study of the scriptures.

5. It is another way to introduce your friends to Christ.

Many of us have friends who are not connected to a church family and have not experienced the love of God. Groups are a great way to introduce them to His love and the scriptures. Getting others involved is what we strive to do at The MET because we feel that there is nothing more important than the relationship we can have with Christ.

In the book of Acts, it is clear that God intends His people to grow in their faith and to serve each other, all in the church. Here, at The MET, we want to follow God’s will and help our fellow believers develop their own relationship with Christ through Groups. If you are not in one of our Groups, why not join one this week?
